Hello and welcome to
Shelly Ann Therapy
Hi, I'm Shelly Ann Charnock and welcome to my website. Taking this first step into researching counselling can represent such a huge milestone so firstly I want to say thank you. Thank you for taking the time to put yourself first and consider seeking support during a time that can bring with it such an intense range of emotions.
I feel that no one should have to go through the difficulties this life throws at us alone and I want to help support others when they need it most. I have counselled both children and adults throughout my career and have worked with people from a vast array of backgrounds, cultures and beliefs and I offer the same genuine non-judgemental, empathetic and supportive relationship to anyone I meet. Come as you are, you are in a safe space with me.
My Story
After gaining my Psychology degree I always knew that supporting and helping people was my calling in life. I took an introduction to counselling course and loved every moment of it. Unfortunately life had other plans for me and for a while my career path took a slightly alternative route into the world of teaching. I left teaching to become a child counsellor and since then I have been heavily involved in the safeguarding of young people. I have faced many challenges in life and, like a lot of people, when covid hit in 2020 I took the time to re-evaluate and decided that I wanted to expand my skills into adult counselling.
I am registered with both the BACP and UKCP which means that I follow their ethical guidelines and training requirements to ensure my clients are provided with a safe and secure place to express their real feelings and explore what is happening without judgement.
I hold a Masters in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling and am a qualified counsellor. I am also currently taking further training with Warwick University to finalise my full accreditation with the UKCP, one of the UK's leading bodies, to become a fully accredited Psychotherapist meaning that I have the skills and experience to support with more complex cases.
I'm an integrative counsellor based in Groby, Leicester. Being an integrative counsellor means that I'm not restricted to following rules of one particular mode of therapy but instead capable of using bits of each of them to help support my clients in the best way possible. I aim to provide each client with a personalised counselling experience that is tailored to their individual circumstances.
I offer both face-to-face and online counselling sessions.
